I want them to have easy access to be able to inform me if and when I buy a dud. I am one of those collectors who believes in safety in numbers, and as a buyer, I want people to know what I have bought and who I bought it from. You can use eBay's search function to see what others are selling their stamps for. The concluding statement "Why should sellers enable people to undercut" is a bit of a non sequitur. There are too many variables in stamps and stamp condition to put a prescribed value on them. Some of your points are valid if you were selling regular consumer goods or similar. Why should sellers enable people to undercut? I find a few of X, go to your feedback and see how much you are getting for them so drop the price to undercut you. You may be an experienced seller of stamps of country X. What you have bought and for how much is also commercially valuable information. Jack wrote:I have no problem with 'private listings' at all why should anyone else be able to see what you have bought or sold, and for how much? What is important is the amount and quality of the feedback, not what the item is nor how much it sold for. (moderators: please forgive me if this should be in a different thread, I used the search function and didn't see any matching thread/results for this topic) (I'd LOVE to crusade against feeBay if I thought it might do some good, but I'm doubtful) Thoughts? Comments? Similar experiences? Recourse? I am VERY TEMPTED to attempt to retract my bid (it's a ten dollar item) out of principle and as a protest, but it was clearly my fault for not blocking the seller before.
HOW DO I MAKE MY EBAY LISTINGS PRIVATE HOW TO
Until I saw nearly ALL their 9149 feedbacks show a "private listing" where you can't see what exchanged hands! RRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!įor those who need to know, here's how to BLOCK a seller (or a buyer):

This time I just plain forgot to "block" that seller, even though I've been tempted with their very extensive, interesting listings. I like postcards, (newspaper) wrappers, and covers with unusual rates and destinations/transit markings/censored/taxed/registered, the more unusual the better! Shame on me for not being more careful with my bidding-I use eBay's easy saved search function which emails me notifications when certain items (usually covers) become available. Is there any place or legitimate reason to use a "private listing" feature? I sure would like to hear from others on this topic! I accidentally bid on (electronic-sniped) and won an auction item from an ebay seller I normally NEVER bid or deal with, as they NEARLY ALWAYS use "private listing" function, which is SHAMEFUL and only meant to deceive, hide, or otherwise hinder a true auction format.
